Boulder Registry Release Limits
The Colorado Bureau of Investigation sex offender registry is relevant only where a released person has a registrable sex-offense obligation and appears under the public registry's rules. CBI says the website does not list all convicted sex offenders in Colorado and does not post information for sex offenders only convicted of misdemeanor sex offenses or juveniles adjudicated for sex crimes. A missing public result is not the same as no record, no conviction, or no duty.
For Boulder County released-inmate research, the registry is a supplemental source. Use the Boulder County Jail release report or Sheriff's Records Section for the local custody event. Use Boulder County Combined Court for disposition, sentence, and sealing issues. Use CDOC for state-prison parole or discharge. Use CBI and local registration offices only when the offense category makes registry records relevant.
Important: Do not treat the registry as a general released-inmate search. It covers a limited legal category.
Search Colorado Registry Records
CBI's public registry and search-agreement path are the state-level starting points. The research also notes that CBI's search-agreement page says users may contact the local police department, county sheriff's office, or CBI for a complete list of registered sex offenders in a city, county, or state. For Boulder County, local registration is handled through the Sheriff's Office by appointment.

The Boulder County sex-offender registry page gives local appointment details. Registration with the Boulder County Sheriff's Office is by appointment only. Registry Fields and Gaps
A public registry result may include identifying details, address-related information, photos, offense category information, or registration status depending on the current public interface and legal limits. It is not a booking record and it is not a release certificate. Registry photos, when shown, are different from Boulder County arrest photos and different from CDOC offender photos.

Registry Is Not Release Proof
A person can be released from jail and never appear on the registry because the case does not involve a registrable offense. A person can appear on a registry while the custody event, court sentence, parole status, or probation term must still be checked elsewhere. A registrable obligation can also continue after release, parole, or probation. Keep those records distinct.
Use Boulder County Combined Court to understand the conviction, disposition, sentence, or sealing order. Use Boulder County Jail records for the booking and release event. Use Probation & Parole for supervision. Use CDOC for state-prison custody or discharge.
Sealing and Registry Photos
Research for the mugshot and court sections notes that sealing can limit public access to court and arrest records. CBI's court-order sealing page says CBI no longer takes a sealing fee as of July 1, 2024, though other court fees may remain. Registry visibility follows its own statutory rules and should not be confused with a mugshot request or a jail release record.
Boulder County's Sheriff's Records Section has a separate arrest-photo rule: adult arrest photos cost $5, and juvenile arrest photos are not released unless the juvenile was charged as an adult and court documentation is provided. That rule belongs to booking-photo records, not the registry itself.

City Registry Routes
The research found local city-level registry routes in addition to Boulder County Sheriff's registration appointments. The City of Boulder says the Boulder Police Department provides a copy of the complete city sex offender list to anyone who asks, with phone 303-441-3333 and address 1805 33rd Street. Longmont's public page points hard-copy city-list requests to the Records Unit at 303-651-8502. These local list routes are still registry routes, not jail release lists.
Use the city route only when the question is tied to a city registry list. If the question is whether a person was released from Boulder County Jail, use the Sheriff's jail records. If the question is whether a case resulted in a registrable conviction, use Boulder County Combined Court. If the question is whether a state-prison inmate was paroled or discharged, use CDOC. Registry records answer a narrow legal-duty question that may arise after release, but they do not document every release.
Registry Release Chain
A registry obligation can begin, continue, or update after a person leaves custody, but it is not the release event itself. A Boulder County jail release record shows that local custody ended. A court record shows the conviction, sentence, or registration-related order. CDOC may show prison parole or discharge for a state sentence. The registry may show only the public portion of an ongoing registration duty.
That chain matters for older records. If a public registry entry is absent, the reason may be statutory limits, juvenile rules, misdemeanor-only limits, a sealed record, or no registrable offense. If a registry entry is present, it still does not say when the person left the Boulder County Jail. Use the registry as a specialized follow-up source, not as a general release search.
