Boulder County ICE Custody

ICE Online Detainee Locator System is current-custody oriented. ICE says the locator is for people currently in ICE custody or in CBP custody for more than 48 hours. It is not the Boulder County Daily Booking and Listing Reports, not the Colorado DOC offender search, and not a court disposition source. If a person left Boulder County Jail on an immigration transfer, the jail release and ICE custody are two different facts.

USA.gov explains the main ICE search paths: A-number plus country of birth, or name, country of birth, and birth date. ICE also lists the Denver Contract Detention Facility in Aurora as a Colorado ICE detention facility. That facility context matters for Boulder County because there is no Boulder County ICE jail in the facility map, but immigration custody can still follow a local release or transfer.

Search ICE ODLS

Use ICE only when immigration detention is a reasonable possibility. If the person was released from county jail without an immigration transfer, the Sheriff's Records Section and court records are more useful. If the person was sentenced federally, use BOP. If the person was sentenced to Colorado prison, use CDOC.

1. Open the ICE detainee locator.
2. Search by A-number and country of birth when available.
3. If no A-number is known, search by name, country of birth, and birth date.
4. Review any facility or custody details carefully.
5. If no result appears, check the Boulder County release record, court file, CDOC, BOP, or direct agency contacts.

ICE Locator Limits

The ICE locator should be treated as a current-custody tool. Other public guides note that recently released ICE records may be visible for a short time, but the official purpose remains locating current ICE detainees or certain CBP custody situations. Do not use ICE ODLS to infer a long-term release history. For older or official immigration records, the public path may require direct agency procedures rather than a county jail page.

Boulder ICE Detainer Context

Research Section 19 angle K gives Boulder County a specific local note. The Boulder County District Attorney's immigrant-rights page cites Colorado law barring ICE from making civil-detainer arrests inside courthouses or immediate surrounding areas, including adjacent sidewalks, driveways, entryways, and parking areas. That does not answer whether a person is in ICE custody. It does explain why courthouse, county jail, and immigration-custody questions should not be collapsed into one record.

If a person has a Boulder County court date, use Boulder County Combined Court for the court record. If a person has an immigration detention question, use ICE ODLS and the ICE facility page. If the question is the jail release record, use the Sheriff's records process.

Denver Contract Detention Facility

ICE lists the Denver Contract Detention Facility in Aurora as Colorado's listed ICE detention facility in the research source set. It is not a Boulder County facility, but it may be relevant if a person was transferred from local custody to immigration detention. Use ICE's facility page for facility rules and contact details rather than assuming Boulder County Jail can answer ongoing ICE detention questions.

No ICE Result Found

No ICE locator result can mean several things. The person may not be in ICE custody, the search inputs may not match the ICE record, the person may have been released from ICE, or the person may be in another system entirely. Because ICE ODLS is current-custody oriented, it should not be treated as a full immigration release archive. Start by checking whether the source fact was a jail release, a court hearing, a federal sentence, or an immigration transfer.

For a Boulder County jail event, request the jail record from the Sheriff's Records Section or review the recent release report if the event is still inside the public window. For a court event, use the 20th Judicial District record. For a state sentence, use CDOC. For a federal sentence, use BOP. Then return to ICE only if the facts still point to immigration detention. This sequence keeps an ICE detainer, a criminal case, and a jail release from being treated as the same record.

The search inputs also matter. A-number searches are more precise than name searches, and country of birth is part of both ODLS paths described by USA.gov. If the available facts are incomplete, the better next step may be to confirm the Boulder County release or transfer record first, then rerun the ICE search with stronger identifiers.

That order also helps when names are misspelled, aliases exist, or a booking record uses a different date format than the immigration record.

ICE Release Record Limits

ICE ODLS is not a Boulder County release list. It is meant for current ICE custody and certain CBP custody situations. A person can be released from Boulder County Jail, transferred to ICE, released from ICE later, or moved to a different immigration process. Those events may not all appear in one public screen.

Use the Boulder County jail record to confirm the local custody endpoint. Use ICE or the Denver Contract Detention Facility context only after the record suggests immigration custody. If a court hearing is the source of the question, use the court record as well. The correct answer may require two dates: the date local jail custody ended and the date immigration custody changed.
